 The Center for Research of Private Economy (CRPE) at Zhejiang University, inaugurated in 2002 after one year planning, with its research focus on the private economy, is the first academic and policy research institution established in Chinese Universities. It was crowned ¡°The Key Research Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities¡± (the unique crowned institution in private economy research) and ¡°The National Innovative Institute of Philosophy and Social Sciences¡± by The Education Ministry of Chinese Government in 2004.
CRPE¡¯s tenet is the faith of academic achievements with its root on the fertile phenomenon of private economic development in China. We devote ourselves to analyzing the foundations of the private enterprises and their management strategies under the paradigms of the modern economics. Beginning with the explanations of private economic activities in Zhejiang Province, where the private economy is highly developed, our intellectual activities will be expanded to the national-wide private economic phenomenon, from the developed provinces to the developing provinces. The academic activities among domestic and foreign scholars in the field of private economy research will be organized to improve our understanding of private economic phenomenon and the level of theoretical and strategic researches. CRPE will highly develop and
bridge the connections between the private enterprises and governments. The applicative researches and decision-supporting consultations will be offered to enterprises, governments, and other agents, through our high-level researches on the frontier problems in the private economy in China.
From the time of its establishment, CRPE has got its academic reputation in China. It has brought together a top research team of domestic and foreign scholars through the innovative institutional arrangement. This team has carried out a variety of academic activities, achieved a series of first-class research results and publications, and undertaken the well-known ¡°The Private Economy and Institutional Innovation Project¡±, which is a part of ¡°The 10th five-year State Plan¡± and ¡°211 Plan¡±, and ¡°The Research on Private Economy Project¡±, which is one of the second-stage projects in ¡°985 Plan¡±.
CRPE is increasingly becoming China¡¯s top institution of research and consultation of the private economy.
